[MUD-Dev] Stockmarkets...
In regards to the economy thread:
Balancing a stockmarket game is fairly easy, just let all oil stock drop,
while agriculture goes up. I mean, if you want a stockmarket, why not make
one? An oil-empire MUD could be great fun if done right! Why patch a
dysfunctional system, when you can create a beauty?
I'm sure many typical MUD activities could be adapted to that proven
paradigm... You could have two economies even, one minor classical one, and
one major stockmarket one, with one-way transactions from the minor to the
major. Thus you have a sink.
(This assumes that you abandon realism. That you need to play in the major
economy in order to affect. That the game is marketed as a strategy style
game. That the minor economy prevents extensive hoarding.)
