Highlanders

 

Highlanders are the masters of combat. They excel with any weapon that has a
sharp edge or end, and can make new weapons superior to those used by most
other people.They are however, loners. They fight alone, they move alone, and they make
very few good friends.

Weapons

 

A highlander has the ability to create new weapons (forge). Whilst these start
out weak, they can be made much stronger - both by the used of imbued powers,
and also by boosting their abilities.

forge - Makes a weapon.
imbue - Inpart a power into the weapon.
boost - Improve a power in the weapon.
animate - Your weapon helps you detect powers used on you.

Powers

 

Highlanders can imbue their weapons with powers. These can add more damage and other factors to a highlanders weapons.

Barbed - Increased Damage

Wounding - Aggravated Damage

Keen - Extra hits in battle

Quicksilver - Faster command attacks

Ancestral - Increased soak[absorption of damage]

Vicious - Increased Damcap

Balanced - Increased speed

 

Abilities

Although a highlander is attuned to his weapon, the sheer power that they attain throughout their existance results in them gaining certain additional abilities that come easily to them. Additional powers are available, but only once the highlander has the required quickening. These are:

Lifesense

The highlander can tune their senses to be able to detect the changing
environment caused by the power inherant in any object. This (at the
lowest level) means that they get perfect night sight, at all times.

At higher levels they get additional powers:

2 Read the aura of People
3 Read the aura of Objects
4 See into the Spiritual plane
5 See into the Astral plane
6 See past the barriers people place in scrying.

AuraResolve

The ability of a highlander to concentrate their essense in such a way as to produce a feeling of inferiority in their possible opponents.When concentrating in this way, no-one is able to attack the highlander.

LeatherySkin

The highlander survives so many battles, that eventually their skin hardens as result of all the injuries that they have sustained. This in turn reduces the amount of damage that affects the highlander, as well as drastically reducing the chance of them having any limbs removed.

BladeGateway

By working in tandem, two highlanders can produce a tear in the fabric of space itself. The end result is a 'portal' linking the two highlanders, no matter how far apart they are.

Search

By holding up his weapon and focusing through the crossguard, a Highlander is able to determine the location of another player.

Quickening

The ability of a highlander to absorb some of the power of a defeated opponent. The number of points earnt in each class may be seen on "upkeep".

The power gained is dependant on the type of person that the highlander decapitates:

 

Techniques

The highlander has access to a range of combat techniques. These commands can be used during combat. They are:

Cut - The highlander just puts a lot of effort into trying to dismember their opponent.

Cleave - A cleave is a slightly more powerful attack, but has less chance of removing a limb.

Riposte - In order to prevent an enemy from recalling during combat, the highlander can 'distract' them.This durational power lasts for a specific number of seconds, until the next command is entered or until the combat finishes - whichever is sooner.Obviously they cannot distract anyone other than their primary opponent.

Feint - Using their superior knowledge of armed combat, a highlander has the ability to bypass an opponents parry attempts by using a range of confusing moves at the same time as their attacks.This, like riposte, lasts until the highlander next executes a command.

Distract - In order to prevent an enemy from recalling during combat, the highlander can 'distract' them. This durational power lasts for a specific number of seconds, or until the combat finishes - whichever is sooner.Obviously they cannot distract anyone other than their primary opponent.

Hamstring - In order to prevent an oponent fleeing, the highlander can sever the tendons running down the back of the opponents legs, making them unable to move fast enough to flee.

Slash - A generic extra attack that is available to a highlander. Nothing special on its own, but a staple of many combinations.

Impale - The ability of a highlander to start a fight by thrusting at the opponent. This is similar to the normal power of backstab.

Thrust - A highlander power that involves putting a lot of effort into a single straight thrust, that can be parried. However, if not parried, it does a LOT of damage.

Spring - The highlander can launch a surprise attack on another player that is in the next room.Using the command the highlander moves into the room, and at the same time unleashes a slash.
